Emma

I work in the shared services area of the HR department. As HR Services Co-Ordinator, I provide advice on payroll queries, absence management, and Conditions of Employment, I also lead a team of HR Assistants.

I get a great deal of job satisfaction from my role. I'm really pleased that I have had the opportunity to develop professionally, to work in different areas of the HR department and with different people and to travel to other CNC sites and carry out a diverse range of HR activities. I've really enjoyed the different roles I've had in the CNC and feel proud of the progression that I have made in my career here. The Constabulary's also supported my career – they partially funded my professional qualification and provided me with appropriate time off for my studies.

There really is no typical day in my current role. A lot of my time is spent dealing with ad hoc queries, both from within the team, the constabulary as a whole and from external parties. I also spend time on planned activities, such as preparing for absence management group meetings and carrying out research for project work.

There's a very supportive culture in the HR Department and due to the nature of my different roles, I've also forged strong relationships with other members of the CNC during my time here. My line managers and colleagues are fun, supportive and hard working, and everyone works together well as a team.
